La Casermetta’s high, oak beamed ceilings, terracotta paved floors, cypress joinery, exposed stone, farmhouse antiques and buttery cream walls all combine to create a rich, homely atmosphere. Each of the windows has a lovely outlook – there are pretty views across the valley and overlooking the garden, lawns and olive grove.
The spacious eat-in kitchen in the main house contains all you could need including a large wooden table for food preparation and casual meals. The apartment kitchen is an equally well-equipped smaller version where old meets new. An antique marble sink sits comfortably alongside gleaming new appliances, all quality, well-known brands.
There’s additional power supply to the house, a luxury in the countryside, as well as reliable plumbing and strong water pressure. The windows are screened, there’s crisp pressed linen on all the beds, modern bathrooms with a generous allocation of towels in each and capacious restored antique wardrobes and drawers provide ample space to unpack into.
A huge oak refectory table and ancient boudoir grand piano loaded with family photos dominate the dining and living rooms upstairs. Both the main house and La Cantinetta, the apartment downstairs, feature comfortable sofas, desks, restored antique furniture, tasteful Persian rugs, lamps and paintings, tv/dvd/cd and an eclectic selection of books games and films.
Efficient central heating keeps La Casermetta warm and cosy in the winter months. In summer La Casermetta’s 400m elevation promotes refreshing breezes while its thick stone walls help keep the interior cool.
